>>
>>1026 I do yeah
>>

>>
>>1032 >sewerslvt nice, not really my style but overal unique rice. 6/10 because not using a tiling window manager
>>
>>1033 >sewerslvt hey whats with pointing that out
>>
>>1034 sewervlut has been a subject of some flamewars about his/her opinions on racism or whatever. >>1032 name you init system NOW
>>
>>1034 I enjoy his music, that's all. >>1035 seperate art from artist. I don't care about sewerslvt's personal opinions as long as they don't mix it into their music.
>>
>>1035 >name you init system NOW blehhhhhh neverrrrr
>>
>>1037 why?
>>
i don't spend a lot of time ricing
>>
syrno spotted

OP here. Unfortunately I had to stop using Linux, since my current laptop doesn't support it very well, but I've managed to keep my Windows comfy
>>
>>1148 What is the problem with the new laptop?
>>
>>1149 I was having different problems with the drivers, so my screen resolution, refresh rate and brightness were not working properly It's also an Asus laptop which uses proprietary drivers, which doesn't help
>>
I'm a little surprised to see the tiles I made posted here, I've only posted them on 4chan and my github.
>>
>>215 Literally me. Don't want anyone finding out I'm even more of a loser than they thought
>>
>>79 not very exciting but i always keep the background the desktop ships with, i don't really spend my time looking at it, if i need to do sysadmin i use the terminal

>>79 i need to clean it up a bit, still has some shit i copied off of my 3ds when i was modding it. can you tell which game ive been obsessed with lately? lol
>>
>>1174 got a link to that github? need some tiles
>>
maybe a bit boring but i generally have nothing on my desktop except the wallpaper. even the taskbar is hidden automatically. i tend to just hit the search key and search for whatever program i want to launch instead of using desktop icons. it's comfy and i like it.

I'm >>739 I'm using a traditional setup now for the sake of stability, but I'm currently testing out IceWM on my other laptop. >>851 The music player is Audacious with the Winamp Xell skin (https://skins.webamp.org/skin/3555a46559112ce31f4c98c95448f68a/Xell.wsz). The "theme" is fvwm with a hodgepodge of assets I stole from http://pcdesktops.emuunlim.com My dotfiles are horrendous so idk if I'll ever release them publicly. >>1243 Thank you for the wallpaper I'm using now lole
>>
>>79 I've started to liek more dark themed desktops lately, and with a little bit of time, i was able to pull this together The wallpaper was taken from a demo that comes pre installed with rockbox; i took a picture with my phone and edited the picture I really like how it ended up looking. As if it were a spaceship in a part of space with no light sources, or maybe like a wrecked ship

Figured i'd Chime in. (Both my XP Retro Gaming Rig and Current Daily Driver)
>>
I present you my Autumn-themed XFCE Battery life jumped to 11 hrs from 2 hours in windows after I made the switch
>>
>>1352 tlp, ondemand/powersave cpu governor and maybe underclock the CPU to a smaller amount of HZ and it should be much longer. I get like 4 hours on my T430 running Alpine
>>
>>126 could i get this wallpaper, its pretty cute! in a BMP format would be convenient, obviously :)

I think I'll give up on tiling WMs. There's just too many things that don't work or at least work awkwardly when using them.
>>
>>1363 What tiling WMs have you used? I've been using dwm for a couple years now and haven't had any of the issues you have.
>>
>>1364 I wouldn't call them issues, it's not that serious. Mostly stuff related to floating windows and fullscreen. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but it gets ugly at times, though maybe I just haven't spent enough time on it. I've been using i3
>>
>>1365 Hard to tell without knowing the use case. 95% normalfags are conditioned by windows into compositing wms, so tiling is a rather exotic feature. This is why I think 95% of normalfag developers don't give a fuck if their shit doesn't work in a tiling environment. But I've been using i3wm for years and I am still quite satisfied. I have several virtual machines with different Linux flavors and also windowses, and I honestly like compositing wms less. On the other hand I've used them for years before I moved to tiling, so I can use either without major issues in terms of comfiness.
>>
>>1363 Not sure what you're talking about, but basically everything works nicely with dwm. Only times I run into issues is with games and alt tabbing. Using windowed and just removing the top bar is the solution for that.
>>
>>1367 dwm loser on i3wm games work well and alt tabbing is a joke, because it actually provides a superior way to switch between windows
>>
>>1359 I have so little respect for EndeavorOS users. It's just arch for newbs and script kiddies
>>
>>1369 people have to start somewhere, besides, somebody had to make arch usable
>>
>>1366 Just as you said, most desktop apps aren't meant to be viewed in an aspect ration that's too different from 16:9, so a lot of them look weird in a tiling WM
>>
>>1371 check out i3wm's stacked and tabbed layouts, they're amazing. I almost exclusively use tabbed and it rocks
>>
>>1328 You need to activate Linux. You're missing out on a bunch of features, like customization, otherwise
>>
>>1373 bend over i'm gonna active your linux really hard
>>
Let's not get too freaky now
>>
you get what you deserved though
>>
>>1284 You're using the development branch as a daily driver?
>>
>>1378 Development branch is the testing branch, edge itself is just the rolling release repository. It's extremely stable, the only issue I ever had was gimp being recognised as updated when it was still on version 2, I just had to reinstall it to properly have version 3. Other than that I never had any problem
>>
>>1353 thanks happy2 the 11 hours I get is after applying all those optimisations you suggested but as >>1355 Says, enabling amd_pstate driver did yeild better results by utilising the newer hardware powersaving features of my CPU . But I think this applies to my specific machine as opposed to something that would work with a ThinkPad . surprised Using 'indicator cpufreq' to cap the max CPU clock to 500mhz while doing light tasks like reading PDFs also boosts the battery tremendously and make the laptop be comfy enough to used on the lap without getting 3rd degree burns laugh I was basically trying to see if I can outlast MacBooks of my colleagues and not have to carry the 2 kilo brick of a charger eww ROGs come with
>>
>2kilo charger Lol whatlaugh I have 48w charger and it's super light. Another is 65w and it's barely a kilo.skeptical
