I would have been 12 in 2013 so that was probably near the peak of me playing it. I started at 8, was hooked, played religiously until I was probably 14-15. You are absolutely right that the game is unrecognizable. I get on sometimes when others ask me to but it's basically a different game in the worst way.

I was exited when I heard about it, but I wish they tried experimenting with the setting a bit more. A dark metropolis theme like they did in Miitopias New Lumos would be great to switch things up.

Not too long ago I played through Overboard, a short map pack from the guy who made Going Down. Short and sweet maps with some awesome level design, and a NG+ mode with harder enemy placements after you beat it for the first time.

I remember an AVGN episode where he covers a DOOM mod made by a food company or something? I recall you played as an alien who was fighting other aliens to rescue your family or people or whatever. It had really goofy names and weapons but actually wasn't too bad all things considered. Surely I am not hallucinating.
