HTMLB Anonymous 10/05/2026 (Mon) 06:44:38 No. 2011
I wanted to share my HTMLB project (https://htmlb.neocities.org/). It's an alternative to HTML that comes with extra tags to do things you can't do in classic HTML without javashit. HTMLB brings templates, conditionals, variables, and number/strings operations right out of the box. Before asking any questions, check out https://htmlb.neocities.org/#faq

>>2011 I actually think this is quite cool and has a real usecase. I think pure HTML and CSS is a bit too restrictive but I have javashit trauma from using the modern web. I have been thinking of heavily remaking my personal site, adding HTMLB support would be cool (even if it wouldn't ever be used snicker). I won't be home for a couple days but mayhaps I will try out the browser then. What made you pick the name HTMLB? What does the B stand for? Didn't see anything about it on the site.
>>
>>2012 Thank you for trying HTMLB, I hope more people will become interested in this project. The "B" doesn't really mean anything, it's just like saying "Option B"

Cool project, just throwing this out here, but I've though about making HTML a binary format to save data. I know that this is a far more radical change than HTMLB as an extension of HTML, so... that probably won't go anywhere. HTMLB on the other hands sounds pretty cool, if I ever think about hosting my own website again I'll be sure to make HTMLB and HTML+JS (for the 99.99% who don't support HTMLB yet :^) both supported. How do you plan on raising awareness/getting people to use HTMLB? I'm pretty sure Gemini arose out of a sort of community, is there at all an HTMLB community? Also you documentation is really nicely formatted, nice job
>>
>>2015 Right now I don't have an HTMLB community, so the only way I can get the word out is by sharing it on imageboards, since I don't use social media at all.

Right now I'm working on adding iframe support for my Links fork, I think iframes combined with HTMLB can be a pretty powerful combination for building interactive pages without JS
>>
>>2023 yo no hablar espanol on a side note, did you post this on the fourchins? i think i remember seeing a thread about it on there, seeing the replies made me a lil sad, but i shouldnt be suprised considering that site is pretty much 90% bots and arseholes also also, if its not much to ask, what would you say makes this different from htmx?
>>
>>2024 Yes, I post it on 4chan, I really expected those responses, the only thing that mattered was getting the word out about the project, I might do it again when I add support for iframes. The main difference with HTMX is that HTMX is just a JS library, so it requires a browser that supports JS. HTMLB, on the other hand, is something completely new, and is not part of the HTML/CSS/javashit standard, that's why normal browsers can't display a web page written in HTMLB. This offers a new way to create web pages without having to use Google’s bloated standard.
