Are there actual deep cultural or religious traditions involved in Halloween? Or is it just about dressing up and eating sweets? And no, dressing up and eating sweets is not a deep cultural or religious tradition.
>>
>>11265 Depends on the culture. Latin America has Dia De Los Muertos which is more of a celebration of the dead than it is about spooky stuff.

>>11265 Halloween was brought over to America by the Irish and Scottish Catholics. It's on the eve of All Saints Day (also known as All Hallows Day, hence Halloween- All Hallows Eve). It's the beginning of a section of the Catholic liturgical calendar meant to represent the dead and martyrs and such. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that's the history.

I know it's been 2 days but how was everyone's Halloween? There were only 1 group of kids that trick or treated in my neighborhood, but it was nice actually having passed out some candy to some kids this year.
>>
>>11272 very few kids here, i just put a bowl out after awhile of nobody coming and watched movies.
