I want to talk about horror media that is sourced from the internet. Not necessarily full-release movies or well-known published games. I'm thinking more analog horror, creepy videos, horror flash/indie games, even stuff like the SCP foundation falls under this category. Bonus points for more niche stuff or media you consider internet history. Starting this thread off with this video. I love this one, I am a huge huge fan of atmospheric horror and I think this is a great example of such.

So I've been working on a project to create a singing voice synthesizer I'm basing it on the description in Jordi Bonada's PhD thesis "Voice Processing and Synthesis by Performance Sampling and Spectral Models". After a lot of trouble with getting TWM f0 estimation to work, I've finally gotten to implementing MFPA (Maximally Flat Phase Alignment". And amazingly, it seems to have worked first try. Do hikarins play chess? I started playing earlier this week on chess.com and it has taken over my brain. Winning games makes you feel very smart and cool. I'm pretty bad at it but I can't stop playing. Struggling to visualize checkmates and I don't fully understand why you'd use different openings over the other, but all things considered I've been learning pretty quick.

I am stuck in the future. The thought that most of my waking moments, those moments outside of the routines that build my future, are just going to be lost and forgotten, completely inconsequential, is agonizing. If every day I wake up as a slightly different creature, literally at the biological level of the brain, and the only things that remain are adaptations for survival, am I ever really alive? I dont get to live in the way that the average person thinks they live, I am literally just a machine. Observing their actions, I gathered that everybody else is too. Personally I dont think that human life has intrinsic value, nor do I think that the effect of the death of one person on other people matters, just as it wouldnt matter if those people died along. I dont feel this way as a result of what I said above, it just happens to be the case, but it would make me feel good temporarily if at least somebody said that they related to these feelings. Next, you could say that you want people to not die because they serve a purpose, but thats a machiavellian/opportunistic way of thinking isn't it? You only care about people because they facilitate your own future and thats despicable. Future means survival and the degree of satisfaction in the lost moments by the way. If you look at it this way, wrestling with the idea of suicide each day is actually an understandable result of the lack of complete fullfillment, when I think, when I AM really there for just a second, I am not really living anymore am I. Can you know that if this day had happened tomorrow instead, that you would have acted the same way as you did today? You die and are replaced each and every day, when you are THERE you are in agony BY DESIGN, because YOU exist only when you suffer, as though we were trapped in a vessel and only existed to fulfill suffering, so why should you not end the cycle? I had meant to rant about my feelings, not tie back into religious themes, but this is allowed, right? I think that enlightenment from buddhism is about suicide or lobotomy after all, and I have too much pride to lobotomize myself, so I can only resort to ignoring all of this information and keep dying, because I have too much pride for suicide.

I don't understand why anyone likes that place, and why it's linked from so many places. It claims to be against "drama", but it still feels like a large amount of the discussion there is precisely that. All of the people there are so miserable and uncomfy - and not even in a funny way. Every time I go to that site I get this sense of dread that I usually only get from sites like Twitter. And additionally there's just the this atmosphere that the place has that I'm not really sure how to precisely describe, but I really dislike it.

AVCHonline recently posted this beautiful animation. I think this is the first animation he's done since "the story of the red shoes". Anyway, there is just something so beautiful about all of his art. It is so unique, I've never seen anything like from anyone else. All of his art has this beautiful aura. It is this beautiful purgatory between saccharine innocence and somberness and melancholy. It reminds me of dreams I've had where I find something of such incomprehensible beauty that it can exist only within the dreams, and cannot even be imagined. In some of these dreams I become lucid towards the end and try to desperately grasp it into the real-world, but of course fail. The first time I found his artwork, it was late at night. The next morning I had thought it had been a dream, only to discover that it was actually real. It felt like I somehow took out of a dream and into the real-world. The melancholic and somber part also reminds of this distinct type of loneliness and fading that I have only experienced in dreams as well. It feels like the setting of the sun. Glancing away and towards it get and the feeling suddenness when you come to realize how much has changed.
