Connecting with neighbours Anonymous 01/22/2026 (Thu) 16:00:35 No. 11943
How do Hikarins connect with neighbours who are not really interested in speaking to you? Do you approach them when they're not in a rush? I'm in an apartment and I never really got to know about them much, the closest ones I've connected to were a couple in a lift and an old man who I helped.

Why does this hikarin need to establish communication with its neighbors? It seems that approaching them would be too intrusive, so its better to wait for them to show interest. If you're doing it just because, it doesnt make sense. Are you hoping to build connections for the future?

>>11949 >Why does this hikarin need to establish communication with its neighbors? It seems that approaching them would be too intrusive There is an old saying, a close neighbor is better than a relative far away, I feel like not making friends with neighbors is a bit dumb.. I don't know.. I wouldn't know if it's common to not make friends with neighbors in an apartment block. >so its better to wait for them to show interest. If you're doing it just because, it doesnt make sense. Are you hoping to build connections for the future? I managed to wish them an evening today, so I think I did well! They waved off when they went into their room, I was picking up food when I came across them and they smiled after I wished them, then went inside. I just don't know if they're ever free to speak to for longer periods. I'm hoping to make friends with them, I wonder if they feel alone similar to me, I guess to speak and connect to someone reliable or help them if they ever want anything. I don't know why I psychologically think this way, but I guess it is a desire to connect and get to know others, what do you think Hikarin?

I dont think a couple would feel lonely. Besides, truly lonely people dont often leave their homes. Older people like it when younger people are interested in helping them or having simple conversations, so its easier to get closer to them, and theyre more open-minded. If you helped that old man, I'm sure he remembers you. The next time you see him, you can try to strike up a simple conversation with him, asking about his life. It should be subtle, and you might be able to help him again. Why didnt you know your neighbors until now, Hikarin?

>>11951 Thank you Hikarin! I got to know them only recently, I moved in over here a few weeks ago.. The grandpa had it a bit hard in that his voice is rough, so I mostly spoke a lot while helping him.. is there any way to connect with truly lonely people? I never know of them, or when they go out..

Lonely people find refuge on the Internet, in places like this, I think. In reality, such people are more fearful and therefore it is difficult to make contact with them. It will be easier to get to know those people with whom you live on the same floor at the beginning. While you have moved quite recently, you will not be considered strange, perhaps they will only think that you are not familiar enough, you should not be shunned. Try to be polite and greet those tenants whom you see. Going back to the topic of single people, it's also difficult in reality because it would be very awkward for both of you. It depends on how unsocialized people you would like to interact with are.
